Beauty with confidence

Monday, October 24th, 2011

I’m pretty content with how I look for my age but to be honest, I’m already using anti-wrinkle creams and make sure I wear plenty of sunscreen when I go outside. I think it’s really funny sometimes that the media is always telling women that we should be deadly afraid of getting older because looks and youth are our greatest values and it’s as if our whole existence as a human being will be diminished once we hit 40! Really? So being desirable to guys is the most important thing that a woman should worry about? In fact, a girl can be attractive and dress sexy without having to give off an impression that she’s only doing it to get attention from guys. I really hate it when a guy thinks I’m wearing something sexy because I want compliments or attention from him…does it ever occur to that idiot that I’m wearing it because I love the way it looks on me and that I’m wearing it to please myself, and not for him? I believe that a woman should care less about what a guy thinks and dresses for herself with confidence and passion! My idols are women, who no matter what age they are, look stylish and are in great shape. Love shirts or sweaters tucked in with maxi sheer skirts!1. ORGANIC BY JOHN PATRICK WAFFLE KNIT PULLOVER $385.00 (lagarconne.com) 2. ANIMAL PRINT PENCIL SKIRT $56.00 (Topshop) 3. Aurelie Bidermann Swan Feather Necklace $1995.00 (kirnazabete.com) 4. Lauren Sunglasses Ladies aviator sunglasses $200.00 (houseoffraser.co.uk) 5. PROENZA SCHOULER / PS1 MINI MESSENGER $1595 (lagarconne.com)  6. GIGGLES HEART POINTED COURT SHOES $116.00 (Topshop) Couples you can tell who borrow clothes from each other…….how cute! To me, there’s nothing sexier than wearing your boyfriend’s clothes! Two of my favorite new models that I know will be everywhere! Look at the girl’s gorgeous eyes! And I love boys with delicate facial features. From left: Melina Martin (only 16 years old!) from Celle, Germany. On the right:

I love her answers! Read more of Meryl Streep’s interview here!

I agree with You. It’s so funny indeed that media makes this pressure, but when we look around we have some amazing and powerful woman examples, but so many womans getting older loose their identity, because there are lots of shops and brands who are focussed on young girls and womans, but when it comes to older you can find just few and even they sometimes offer to our mom’s look like grannies. And I have to admit that I’m so sorry of those girls whos moms try to look like their sisters.
Meryl Streep always have been beautiful to me and when I heard that she have been given this stamp as smart not beautiful for roles. I was shocked. yeah media.
I think most important is not to loose our identity through life and dont try to be our children sisters. 🙂

    xx

  15. Agreed! we don’t dress for boys!

  16. Sania says:

How we dress and why for me, comes down to difference between having style and not having one. if you dress to ‘impress’ and only when you want to impress you don’t care for style one bit, it’s just means to an end..
Your post made me think of a quote from a TV series that goes ‘ Women who have confidence dont wear heels to work!’ P.S That one really pissed me off ;)xoxo

  18. You can’t possibly need anti-wrinkle cream yet! I know what you’re talking about though, I’m already hyper vigilant about my skin. Better to start now than later! Hope your Monday is off to a good start my love, I know you’ve been super busy so hope this week is a bit easier for you! 🙂

Ahh, strong women, nothing could be better! Of course I love it when women dress for themselves, and I think a lot of women already do. I dress up because dressing up makes me feel confident, and I wear things that I like because they give me self-confidence. It’s really not about the guys. And I don’t think the issue here has much to do with guys either. After all, isn’t it well-known that women dress up for…other women?

And just to let you know, I have finally featured another model that you’ve requested on my blog!

You’re so right! I look after my skin, I even wear spf on rainy days! But I’m not scared of getting older, it’s a part of life, there’s too much pressure to look 30 at 40, what’s wrong with looking 40? Those lines are life lines 🙂

  26. Clara says:

So true!! I believe that we all wear what we like mans what makes us feel beautiful just because we feel confident and determined!!

Shin, that’s why I like you because you’re a smart CHICadee! Love that entire first paragraph girl. It’s the media that works against women, putting those kind of thoughts in one’s head.

  28. Oh I really like this post and I so agree with you. We should wear clothes that we feel good about and not dress to impress other people!! Always so much fun reading your posts!!

  30. I’m going to work on my own sweatshirt-under-skirt look after I get into better shape :p
I agree with you: we don’t dress for the boys! From my own experience, it’s more likely for a girl to dress to compete with a girl than to look good for a guy.
