Best of both worlds

Monday, June 20th, 2011

The best part about being a girl is that we get the best of both worlds in terms of fashion. As Menswear fashion week has officially started, I’m feeling inspired to dress like one of the boys. What about you? “This is the kind of girl I can appreciate, carelessly pulled back hair, some classically cut jeans, a tomboy smile, minimal make up and a breeze of that easy French je ne sais quoi”.Some of my favorite meswear inspired looks.1. Silk bromley blouse $98.00 (Madewell.com) 2. Landon Blazer $385.00 (Theory.com) 3. Lucia Puma/Gold Metal $194.00 (Needsupply.com) 4. Skater Skirt $60.00 (Riverisland.cm) 5. ASOS Suede Slouch Satchel $112.05 6. Timex Heritage Pink Plastic And Fabric Strap Camper Watch $60.34 (ASOS) 7. Candela Women’s SH448 Tailor Punk Oxford $253.00 (Endless.com)Menswear Fashion week is here! And my future boyfriend is one of the models from Dolce and Gabbana! Aren’t they gorgeous? If I were to caption some of my favorite spring  2012 looks,…from left to right: I’m-man-enough-to-wear-color-and-I-look-damn-good-doing-it(Roberto Cavalli), did-you-see-how-cool-I-look-in-my-leather-vest?(Neil Barrett), I’m-a-tough-cool-chic-lovable-Bohemian-rocker(John Varvatos), Hi-I’m-wearing-Burberry-enough-said(Burberry Prorsum)Boys at work and Boys at play. I wish I see guys dressed like this where I live. I’ll have a hard time concentrating on walking, that’s for sure!

This is such an awesome video and can you imagine a streetstyle showdown between Anna Dello Russo and Daphne Guinness?

P.S. I receive your comments just fine so don’t worry. If you get an error message, let me know and I’ll find out the problem!

Have an adventurous Monday! xoxoxoxoxoo

Haha “future boyfriend” I love that!! ahhh all the menswear models are so cute and pulled-together. I especially love the Burberry one. Yes, I know what you mean about the easy carefree feel of tomboy-ness. Sloppy clothes, hair loosely pulled back, like there’s not a care in the world! Tomboy dressing can be a lot of fun sometimes.

  2. Catherine says:

aaaah, I really love “boy” looks for a girl, but my bf doesn’t!! haha! I’ll always love the classic shirt with a blazer and a hat 🙂

Menswear inspired looks are the best – in some ways they can make a woman look even more feminine and sexy I think. I adore blazers and I think that the styles you chose are definitely the best to look effortless and cool. Love those white brogues!

  54. Hi beautiful!! YES I absolutely love menswear and menswear inspired looks! I’m a huge fan of incorporating androgeny into my looks and making it cute. 🙂 It’s funny, I just saw a different post on men’s clothes and I tweeted about the pant leg because I’m not really a fan of them rolling up their pants into capris! I think it makes their legs look short! I do love all their shoes in these photos and some quite attractive looking men indeed… and it’s nice to see they care about style. 🙂 I love the pants and shoes of the runway model on the left with the white jacket, very stylish! I also love that Landon Blazer you shared with us, it’s gorgeous! Great post as always, lovely… oh and I wanted to tell you that I just did a little post in a cropped sweater — I actually thought of you when I shot the photos because you inspired me to give this trend a try! I’m always finding new style ideas here, you are amazing. ♥ Rachel

I have always said that one of my favorite things about being a girl is that we are on the good side of that double standard — Girls can do masculine things, wear masculine clothes, etc., and nothing is usually said about it. It is very different for males, which is unfortunate. We get the good end of the deal on this one.

i’m noticing that some of my looks are definitely leaning this way, but i can’t all together abandon femininity, even in a single outfit i don’t think! 🙂 so i’ll pop on something pink or frilly. the manly style thing is a really fun trend. especially cuz it usually entails loose-fitting and thus comfy clothes. <3 EverRubyGirl.blogspot.com
