Carefree Summer

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! I bought a couple of new clothes from BCBG because they were on sale. I’m beginning to buy more quality basics for my wardrobe as I know they will last for a long time and will go with anything. I feel that it’s a big  change from before where I used to spend recklessly on any big trend that I see. What about you? Do you find your spending habits change over time or it remains the same?Summer makes me want to wear flowers in my hair, wear flowy white dresses with bare feet and feeling carefree…

Everyone is talking about Oliver Theyskens and his immensely successful collection for Theory. Read the rest of the interview here.
My new fashion editor crush: Kat Webster from Elle Uk. I love that she wears crop tops to the office. I do too! (with high-waisted pants and skirts of course).I love how these ladies dress to work. They look smart, chic and pretty!I’m definitely getting some statement  gold pieces to wear this summer! Here are some of my favorites! 1. Sequin Gold Snake Rhinestone Cuff $88.00 (charmandchain.com) 2. House of Harlow 1960 14KT Gold Crescent Cuff $79.00 (Shopthetrendboutique.com) 3. Low Luv by Erin Wasson Snake Hinged Cuff in Gold $245.00 (Shopthetrendboutique.com) 4. Seychelles ‘Cream of the Crop’ Sandal $80.00 (nordstrom) 5. Michael Kors Metallic python envelope clutch $735.00 (netaporter.com)Men’s Fashion Week is coming up and there will be plenty of gorgeous male models roaming around online and off. Here are a few of the faces I love! From left to right: Hedi Segalen at studio klrp, Vladimir Ivanov at Ford models, Pierre Harald at Major Paris Isn’t this outfit gorgeous? It’s created by amazing Miss Moss and her collaboration with Modcloth. More looks here. Have a blissful day my loves! xoxoxoxoxoo

BCBG is a great brand so those pieces will be with you for a long time. Smart shopping!

  4. Stylista says:

For me, it used to all be about buying cheap. I had no sense of what was good quality and what wasn’t. But after seeing my clothes lose shape after a couple months (even some after a couple washes!), I knew I had to buy better. So now, I look for quality, but I still look for affordable prices. It’s not easy, but I have some great pieces with this new mindset. As for men’s fashion week…I really should start following it! If not for the clothes, for the models! 😉 btw, that male model on the left….YUM!

  5. Kristen says:

i always try to buy things to better my wardrobe and make it more cohesive overall, but sometimes it is just so hard to avoid that impulse buy! making a list of the pieces i need does seem to help though

  6. Aprilia Love says:

Those guys are a bit spunky? Lol.
Ahhh, this post reminds me of that song ‘if you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair…’ 😀
I think I may have fallen in love with that Michael Kors clutch? So gorgeous!
    Anyways, have a lovely Sunday!

I spent a lot of money on things like tshirts and totally neglected work clothes… now I’m trying to build that portion of my wardrobe up. That and cute dresses.

  9. Deppa says:

Hey! there are too many ideas in just one post.
    First: your new purchases.
Then: The flowers on the hair.
    Then then: Outfits.
Then then then then then: another thing.
    Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen: Gold accesories?
Lol, too much to make just one comment 😉 but I like the main ideas.

Have a great week, see you 🙂

  10. Catherine says:

omg the first picture! the dress, the belts. wooooooooooooooooow!!!

  11. Shelby says:

What did you get at the BCBG sale?! I am a HUGE fan of their clothes… I don’t feel bad at all about splurging on timeless staples that can be worn many different ways. Although I do get caught up in the excitement of buying/styling trendy pieces and have shopper’s remorse occasionally, I try to get trendier items at stores like F21. One of my coworkers made hair clips out of fake flowers… I bought three and I can’t wait to wear them for my blog!!! Have a great week! <3shelby

My spending habits are ALWAYS off the chain.
I love BCBG clothes. They make some of the cutest stuff without being overly trendy or trying too hard. Plus, they have really small sizes, so the clothes actually fit me!

Love that Modigliani painting! Lately I’ve been more careful of what I buy I also used to spend on trendy pieces but after watching too much Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia I’ve decided to build a basics wardrobe !

  14. This is a wonderful post from top to bottom but what struck me today was
the off to work look in the middle photo. Totally something that I would wear except my
hair in a braid-not long enough.

  15. Momojae says:

Hi Shin!! I’m back from my trip~ How are you?
I love the soft flowery ethereal look~ but my strong brows always make me look very weird if I put flowers in my hair…. sighhhhhhhh

As for Oliver Theysken, I loved his dresses back in his Rochas’s time. HUGE fan of his gowns, in fact.

  16. Emma Whyte says:

Lot’s of lovely picks…I love the look of flowers in wavy beachy hair so Boho Chic!
I am definitely with you 100% on buying good staple items rather than following trends that come & go they may cost more but I see them as investments – they will stand the test of time.
Hope you had a great weekend my dear x

  17. Great post dear!! I agree w you, I want that gold statement pieces, too :))
    Xoxo, K.

  18. Rachella says:

  19. Amber says:

hi Shin! Aw I’m so glad you liked the guest post! You create such wonderful posts yourself – would you be interested in creating one this month for Amber’s Mouthwash? I bet my readers would *love* to hear from you! Your posts are always amazing. 🙂
What kind of basics did you buy from the sale? I’ve noticed that my buying habits have changed. A long time ago I used to think that just because something was “in” I had to buy it. Now I buy what I like, because *I* like it. 🙂

  20. Jelena says:

Hey my lovely Shin!! Again such a fantastic post!! Of course I love flowers and florals!:) And I love your new style crush, golden items, what the hell- I LOVE THE WHOLE POST!!!:D
    kisses

  21. classiq says:

Hi, Shin! Oh, I can definitely tell you that now I buy much less than i used to, I’ve learned to choose quality over quantity, and I know my style, what suits me what doesn’t, I never follow blindly the trends, just get inspired by them. I’m going to read the interview with Oliver Theyskens now, but I don’t think I agree with him regarding people today dressing better than back in the ’50. That period was the most stylish fashion decade, women and men had took great care of their look, not only their clothing, which was impeccable. Maybe today the individual style is more emphasized, but I wouldn’t describe our times as stylish according to my definition of style. Hope you have a wonderful week! xo

  22. Madeline says:

I love the first picture, the dress is so pretty and I like the combination with the brown belt. Also, Kat Webster’s outfits look amazing. Great post! 🙂

  23. Alina says:

    Great post, as always!
I love Kat Webster s style, too!
About shopping, yes, by habits did changed around the years…
Before I used to buy stuff just for the sake of buying something.
Still, I haven t reached the point of buying stuff that will resist the test of time.
    Have a great week!
    Kisses

  24. Clio says:

I’m totally into those first 3 pictures. the colors, the hair, the summery feeling,…
and buying basics is the way to go i think. but you need something trendy and flashy once and a while to spice it up 🙂

for me it depends but lately I am buying more and more quality stuff… I have realized that with the huge amount of money I used to spend on cheap stuff I can easily afford a few clothes of higher quality!

  30. Kiki says:

I love that first dress, but without the long part at the back! The last picture is so adorable, love that fashionable couple mostly! I used to spend money in things that I called cute and now I regrade! I’m trying to spend money more carefully, I hate the fact that in Albania we don’t have any summer job. I mean teens. I will be much better if I would spend some time working and with my money earned buy things I need by my own. Thanks for the comment dear, I loved it and it means a lot to me!

  57. Shin, Your style is sooo fabulous. I’ve been investing in good quality shoes lately and it’s sooo worth it!!

  58. HauteWorld says:

I’m with you – as I get older, I find myself investing more in quality items rather than spending money on throwaway fashion. I love these workwear shots – it’s so nice to see women dress stylishly without being overly boring (I’ve always hated girls who stuck to pants suits). And I need that Erin Wasson cuff!

  59. Jessica says:

I WANT- no sorry, NEED that outfit made for modcoth. Good post!

  64. in LOVE with that gold clutch!! and i totally get the flowers in your hair thing. there is this tradition we have where whenever it is someones birthday we go out wearing a flower crown xx

  65. cryskay says:

i always adore all the things you post! i can’t wait to see what you’ve picked up from bcbg. i agree – i am spending more $ on classic, timeless pieces rather than trendy items as i’m getting “older” or rather, “maturing”. lol xx

  66. I tend to invest in quality and hit up H&M and Zara for my trendy pieces. It`s been a good strategy for the past few years and helps me put my money where I really need it…this weekend actually I got the cutest little summer dress for $15 from H&M and then shelled out a considerable amount for a beautiful silk piece from Club Monaco. A staple and a trend…perfect!

Great post as always love, hope you`re enjoying your Monday!
