I find this quote from Matthew Hunt, the publicity director at Exposure US (who’s worked everywhere from Gucci to Burberry to Ford Models), great advice for going to an interview in fashion industry: “You should definitely dress differently at a fashion interview than in the more corporate worlds of say finance or pharmaceuticals. However, presenting yourself as polished and professional is ALWAYS key. The team at Vogue is fashion-conscious, but they could just as easily walk into many different companies and look equally appropriate. Your look should always say, “I’m pulled together and organized–if you need to take me with you to a meeting with clients or top editors, I will fit in. I am ready to work at a higher level within your office, even if I am starting at an intern.” Your potential new boss should find it easy to imagine you in a more senior position.
That being said, in the fashion industry you can easily show up in a smart jacket paired with darker, more sophisticated denim and a great, clean pair of shoes and be ready to start immediately. Sharp shoes are key–they don’t have to cost a fortune, but most people aren’t impressed when shoes appear to be overly scuffed up and worn-in.”

The vogue’s words are so right and I completley agree with them. The different jacket you purpose are very beautifula nd interesting and are a good representation of the word you wrote. But the best of the post arrive with the last pic: an amazing look that is, maybe, the most interesting minidress that Kors realized int he last year!!

I would love to work in the fashion industry because there I know that my fashion efforts would be appreciated. In my current job, people can say, “I love your outfit,” but if I start dropping names like Rebecca Minkoff, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, or Badgley Mischka, they are completely lost. It might be difficult on “off days” when you don’t feel like putting much effort into an outfit, but I think the reward of working in such a fun, energetic environment would outweigh any negatives.

I am obsessed with peacocks, that cuff is calling my name.
We can learn from that quote. Always wear impeccable shoes, that’s something my parents taught me since when I was little. I worked in the fashion business in Marketing and Buying and being fashionable every day was kind of a must for me, but my colleagues didn’t necessarily do the same. But I believe it’s not only good for the image of the brand, but also for your confidence when you walk into a meeting.
Working in the fashion industry is soooo much fun!! Yes, there is pressure to look good but it should come easy if an individual that knows about fashion.

I love the Topshop jacket, the all outfit from ASOS and the blue peep toe shoes.
I think working in the fashion industry would be magnificent.
I think working in fashion could be a pressure to look fashionable, because it is almost all about the way you dress (not all but I think that this part contribute a lot to make an impression) but is also a way to express our style and maybe our personality too.
It’s not like some jobs that you have to dress in a certain way or with a uniform, and the possibility to dress the way you want is great.

Could be an intersting point for the next fashion-ID blogpost of my website. It depends on the fashion industry, where you are employed at. I worked for adidas, and it was super relaxed and casual, no dresscode at all. But in my former companies, it was nearly a catwalk, show off and be seen.Every day. FRankly spoken,it was sometimes exhausting.

Well I certainly do haha…I really think that’s a great quote though because from my past experiences with interviews, I’ve found it really tricky to find the right balance between looking professional and still fashionable. I think the trick lies in having a really tailored base and then adding in more fashionable or trendy accessories. Great post love! And yes I’m starting to feel much, much better, the scar is still very visible but starting to heal I think! Thanks so much for always sending your well wishes, it means a lot 🙂

I think these are great tips for any interview. Not just for one in fashion. Obviously for a fashion interview you want to look even MORE fashionable. However, I have a lot of friends at Conde Nast and I am always surprised by how NOT fashionable they are. Nevertheless, I think your work is always more important that what you wear. If you have a track record of excellence, who should judge you if your shoes are scuffed 🙂

I really love the tibi jacket and the blue platform heels! Wow it’s hard for me to imagine what job I’ll have in the future, but it would be amazing to work in the fashion industry. I always like to daydream about what my apartment will be like, my wardrobe, my job…and these clothes would look great for an interview!
