The movies that inspires me in my way of dressing are: Lolita, Claire’s Knee, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Devil Wears Prada, Virgin Suicides, The Talented Mr.Ripley, and any Tim Burton’s movies. I would like to showcase three of my favorites:
In Lolita, the main character Lo wears floral dresses, crop tops with high-waisted shorts and her hair is in pretty braids.
1. Sweetheart sunnies $12.00 (Fredflare.com) 2. Leopard Blouse by Boutique $90.00 (Topshop.com) 3. Amy skirt by Motel $64.00 (Topshop.com) 4. Jaclyn Espadrille Sandals $275.00 (Intermixonline.com)
Claire’s Knee..I rented this movie from my university library a while ago and I thought it was an original story with a thought-provoking dialogue. Makes me a little afraid of getting a French boyfriend though. But anyway, one of the main character is a girl named Claire who has a great figure and she wears a lot of dresses that show it off.
1. John Lewis Woman Stripe Straw Hat Natural/Blue $36.00 (Johnlewis.com) 2. Lesley Dress by Motel $64.00 (Topshop.com) 3. Satin Wedge Lavin $295.00 (Mytheresa.com) 4. Shimmi Nicole Lace Up Bandeau Bikini $185.00 (Netaporter.com) 5. Marcelina’s Antiqued Gold Elephant Safari Style Necklace $20.00 (fantasyjewelrybox.com)
I was really excited to see this movie and although it was full of fashion stereotypes, I really enjoyed the clothes. I always imagine what I would wear to my interview at the Vogue Office and then getting a job!
1. Chloe Silk Crepe Shirt $520.00 (Netaporter.com) 2. Tibi Twill Tapered Pants #285.00 (Netaporter.com) 3. DVF Krista printed leather sandals $335.00 (Netaporter.com) 4. PAMELA LOVE Quartz Tribal Necklace $690.00 (Bonadrag.com) 5. Proenza Schouler Medium Colombian Mochilla PS1 $1825.00 (Barneys.com)
Do you have any movies that inspires you and the way you dress? I would love to know! xoxoxoxoxoo

I don’t watch as many movies as I would like, so such inspirations come mostly from TV shows for me. :o)
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Amazing!! You know I love this post!! I haven’t seen the first two movies you mentioned but I definitely have to now, especially for the fashion. These outfits are gorgeous!! This was an incredible post!!
I like my girly side boosted. “Confessions of a Shopaholic” did it.
I equally enjoy enhancing my desire to dress up glamour. “Sex in the City” did it.
The latest, everyday glam chic encouragement dose was “Last Night” with whom-I-so-love at the moment actress Keira Knightley.
Love it all! This is such a fun post! 🙂
Xoxo, K.

“Sex and the city”, the movies in the 50s, because I believe that period is the most stylish period (we all know that fashion and style are two different things), La piscine (I’ve posted on Romy Schneider’s style here: http://classiq.ro/style-romy-schneider-in-la-piscine, but one can not miss Jane Birkin’s style as well in the movie). And as we’re are on the movie subject, you should see, if you haven’t already, Kubrick’s Lolita and the original of The Talented Mr. Ripley, “Plein Soleil”(1960), starring Alain Delon. Have a lovely Sunday, Shin! Ada
you have such an amazing blog. i can come back here so many times for some
stylish tips!!
i’d love to have you as my reader.

I always look to movies for inspiration and you have a great list here of top faves! I haven’t seen all of them but I totally loooved Devil Wears Prada. Such a great movie! I adore the denim Topshop skirt and the Lanvin wedges…such an unusual color 🙂
Great recommendations I must check them out! Truthfully I’ve only seen Devil Wears Prada (and I love it, that montage when Anne is in a million different outfits makes me so envious!) out of your featured three. Virgin Suicides is lovely too, the whole mood is inspiring, Gwyneth in Talented Mr Ripley wears the best swimsuits and Elizabeth Taylor is so glamorous in Cat on a hot Tin Roof. I also love Domino, Keira Knightley wears a wardrobe of hard leather, boots and guns and looks incredible, Breakfast at Tiffany’s (of course!), Coco Avant Chanel and Priceless (pretty much anything with Audrey Tautou in it!) …ah I must stop I’ll keep going otherwise!

I love the Claire’s Knee look!
Thanks for a comment on my blog:)
I LOVE this post, I love how you related current fashion finds to the works of the costume designers in these 3 films! I love the Claire’s Knee look, I have never seen that film but it looks like I must check it out!
The devil wears prada is maybe my favourite movie (even if a lot of editors, such as Franca Sozzani told that this film doesn’t represent the reality…) and I think that STreep was amazing in that film..You chose really itneresting films ;D
The PS sheos has a great pattern (a good reinterpetation of the PS1) and the DVF sandal are really cool!!
http://fashiondoesntexist.blogspot.com/
I love the patterned turquoise PS1 bag!!
very nice post 🙂 xoxo
Have to admit Shin, I’m a bit of a sucker for the devil wears prada too. I know a lot of the movie may not actually be true but I did love all the fashion.

I’ve only seen The Devil Wears Prada, but now I am curious about the other films.
I love the clothes in “The Devil Wears Prada” as well – from Meryl Streep’s character to all the wonderful outfits Anne Hathaway gets!
However, my favorite clothing in films come from the 1990s – and from almost all of Gwyneth Paltrow’s films. If you’ve never seen “Great Expectations” or “Sliding Doors,” they’ve got that late 90s cool and the minimalism look that has yet to go out of style. They’re simple, classic, effortless, and extremely chic!
Thanks for your comment! Actually, I used to live in Hawaii before I moved to the East Coast:)

I’m always a big fan of Charlotte from SATC. Love her style, and love her way of thinking. Audrey Hepburn is always my style inspiration… (But I can’t live without my converse… so I don’t know how I can explain that! LOL!!)
xoxo
hmm, never heard of that French film. Strange title but the fashion looks interesting!
The Devil Wears Prada was so funny to watch because it is probably like that at US Vogue, but at Japanese Vogue our fashion cupboard was NOTHING like that huge organised room!! It was always a complete mess and it was tiny. We hated having to tidy it because everyone used to just throw stuff in there!!
love how your put together the outfits from your inspiration! i would wear every single one of these outfits. xx
Hey, you look like a Lolita too, you’re young and fresh and with a great figure 🙂
Those little pal dresses look great and especially in good climate places like yours they are just great.
Thank you for your sweet comment. Ghi will contact you about tips for your hair 🙂
P.S. The devil wears Prada’ was one of the most stylish movies. I also loved the Gaultier costumes in Besson’s ‘Fifth Element’
