Streetstyle: Boys Vs Girls

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Whose streetstyle do you enjoy more? Girls, Boys or Both? Who does it better?

I like being inspired by both stylish boys and girls but I really like it when I see a guy who is creative with his clothes regardless of what he wears. Girls have so many options when it comes to style including makeup (strong red lips for example can transform an entire outfit) but guys have to be a bit subtle in my opinion. What do you think? Do you think we have it easy when it comes to fashion and guys have a harder time figuring out their style?

I think it’s easier for guys. A top and a bottom and then they’re good to go!

Boys’ street style is effortless! I often find myself wanting to wear their clothes. πŸ˜€

  13. Elle says:

I prefer the girls’ street style – though the boys aren’t too shabby either!

  14. edoardo says:

I think that in general girls take more attention about their looks and so when I see a well dressed guy I’m more positive impressed and I prefer to see well dressed boys only because to see a well dressed girl/woman I only need a magazine or a blog…

    Hi!
    Thanks for your comment πŸ™‚
I recently started doing Polyvore sets and I didn’t know how to put it directly into the blog… So, after I finish the set, I copy the all page (Ctrl + PrtSc) to ‘Paint’ (Ctrl + V), then, I set the measures and keep it as image. If you have more doubts, let me know πŸ™‚
I like both streetstyles. I more into the girls style because I’m a girl and I really adore seeing how the other people dress and getting inspired. However, I really adore seeing streetstyle boys, too.
Yes, I agree, guys have to be a bit subtle. I love when they look like don’t even care about what they wear but every detail was thought about and it looks great (like the guys above) :p

i agree with you- girls have a lot more to choose from in terms of stores and the possibilities of accessories and everything. but i don’t see myself being inspired by streetstyle shots of men- not often at least. that’s why i rarely feature them..
but i know a lot of other people like it- so im glad you posted these- plus these are really great picks.

i often feature looks that inspire me- that i want to wear or just love seeing- that i might not dare/want to wear myself.
hope you’re having a good week dear

    xx

  21. Well, I think the boys look better. I do loved a well-dressed man. πŸ˜‰ But in reality those girls look way more fab than I do today, so who am I to judge? Lol.

  22. I think I personally can pick and choose influences from both genders. Style is about confidence in what you’re wearing after all!

It always impresses me more to see a guy with amazing style. Then, I have to do a double-take. I mean, I do the same with girls – I have to double-take their look if it is THAT amazing – but I think girls try harder.

  26. oh…how I love when boys are dare to go their on way when i comes to personal style

  27. LΓΊcia says:

I think it’s much harder for guys to work a a stylish outfit. It can be dangerous for them if they over do it. love the pictures πŸ™‚

Oh, I really love all of these–especially the green button-down and the light blue maxi skirt! Lovely!

  31. Imogen Eight says:

You’re definitely right about girls being able to add another dimension with make-up, but I think style is neither ‘easier’ for boys or girls. Great pre-fashion week inspiration!

  32. florence says:

without doing any effort, boys look better (wow, that boy on the second pic!!!!!)
But, as a girl, I enjoy girl streetstyle much more!

  33. Brad says:

    Great idea for a BLOG Post… ☆
Unfortunately, men’s streetsyle photos are perhaps, 1%-2% of women’s in the Blogosphere πŸ™
And when they do appear, they’re usually a man dressed in a skirt or something “avant-garde fashionable” You know what I mean! πŸ™‚ Ugggghhhhhhh!!!! HELP??!!

  40. Stylista says:

Oh, you’re not really going to make me choose, are you? I can’t! I love seeing guys so well dressed, because over here, the standard guy look is a t-shirt, jeans, and hoodie. However, some guys still look amazingly hot in such an outfit, but it is nice to see a bit more creative, fashionable ensembles. But the women! The outfits they come up with are sooo beautiful. Can’t decide, really. Although I agree it is easier for women to come out looking a million bucks than it is for a guy to do the same.

  41. Hi Shin! how are you? i love guy’s street style but i have to disagree, in my opinion boys or men i particular have it so much easier when it comes to clothes,(or almost in everything for that matter.. salary is only one example) anyway. Perhaps you are right about the fact that they have it more difficult finding their personal style, but then again, they can easily throw on something easy (like a shirt, jumper, a pair of trousers and a tie and look amazing. And if they’d like to make it special a bow tie or a scarf would do that! well this is solely one event but for girl we would easily be seen as boring if we wore something that simple, they just don’t! however. back to the question. I like both girls’ and boys’ street style, just as much i believe! thanks for a lovely post as always! and have a great day (or night as it happen to be here :P) xxxoo

  42. Cee says:

To be honest, mens fashion has never done much for me. I can certainly appreciate when a guy takes time to perfect his look, but I get very little inspiration from it myself. Menswear has never really been my look πŸ™‚

  43. Miriam says:

I tend to go more to girl streetstyle blogs, as I probably get more inspiration from them, but I totally agree with you when you say that a boy has to be more creative, girls definitely have it easier, so it’s probably more impressive to see a perfectly dressed man πŸ™‚
    xx

  44. NΓ‘dia says:

I think it’s rarer to see a very stylish guy, but those who are OH MY!!!

Girls have it easy, imo, but that doesn’t take us any credit! πŸ˜‰

  45. dahl says:

Girls do it better. Hands down. We just know better how to hold our way, stand in a cute way, show off the clothes and look fabulous. Or at least in theory. Really I don’t think gender is such a huge issue, because there are always exceptions to the rule and I don’t think one can label one gender of street styling. All these photos are great and the guys look HOT! http://thearcenciel.blogspot.com/

  46. Clare says:

I think it much much easier for guys. There style hasn’t changed much in 50 years. Just a top a bottom some shoes and DONZO!

  50. classiq says:

I guess boys pull off more easily an effortless look, it’s in their nature. I love their casual street wear as much as I love their tailores looks. Women’s fashion will continue to be inspired by menswear.

  51. qin says:

I love the color of your blazer <3

  52. Biaa says:

Hmm.. I appreciate both men and women’s street style. But I’m not inspired by men’s street style. I enjoy it, but I don’t feel like utilizing what I come across and translating it in my own way. Mostly. I have at times, but very rarely. I think men have less options in terms of items of clothing and make up and accessories. However, I don’t think their style has to be subtle. I think men outside of Europe are more subtle (and often more casual) with their style because that is the way our society is, whereas men in Europe have a flair for style with bold colours, prints, textures, layering, etc. You know, I was reading an interesting little piece in January 2011 GQ about how men have lost control of themselves. How they are dressed by their parents as children and lose the chance to explore their sense of style and find their own identity, and then later in life they think they have to dress a certain way (lacking creative and sense of self in their wardrobe) because that’s how it’s always been. Some guys have to go so far as to always have their gf/etc approve of purchases before purchasing. Anywayyyyy, I always go off on these long rambling tangents with you πŸ˜› Have an awesome Friday!

  53. There is something to be said for well dressed men.
Arguably a potato sack could look good on a girl if paired with the right set of heels…
Not to say that I don’t admire well dressed woman but well dressed men are sometimes a bit harder to find.
