To be sexy or not

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

I’m a big fan of Alexa Chung’s style but I don’t agree with her on this quote. I love to wear form-fitting clothes because I feel good in them and I like what I see in the mirror. Not every girl is dressing for men when they’re in a revealing dress. A lot of young girls are experimenting with fashion and showing skin is their way of rebelling in some way or expressing their attitude. I feel that when a girl sees that she has a nice body, it’s only natural for her to want to show it off. It may not be always tasteful but I don’t like the idea of people thinking that whenever a girl is wearing a sexy dress, she’s trying to get attention. Maybe some of them are but most of them just like the way they look. What’s wrong with that?

What do you think?

Like you, I disagree with Alexa on this matter. I dress in whatever I feel good in and if men find it attractive that’s just an added bonus. However if you feel more comfortable in ‘pilgrim’ clothing then that’s totally fine too, I just feel that when girls show a little more skin it reflects their self confidence and their sense of security within themselves and who they are as a person 🙂

I can of agree and disagree with both you and Alexa. She have some point, its amazing to be sexy inside and you don’t have to reveal all to be sexy, a little bit of mystery is nice and confident too.
You are also right, its not all girls wearing revealing clothes dress for men.

Being “sexy” is a subjective matter. If you feel sexy by wearing revealing outfits, that’s okay; but if you feel sexy by dressing like a pilgrim, that’s okay too. After all sexiness is not solely defined by outlook appearance.
I have to agree with her with the second paragraph though since it IS a shame if you’re trying too hard to be something that you’re not.

I can be such a chameleon when it comes to what makes me feel sexy/attractive, some days I want to throw on shorts topped with a masculine tee and others I rather cover up from head to toe but perhaps bare some shoulders. That is why I never fall out of love with fashion!

I was agreeing with her until the last bit… dressing like ‘a whore’ underneath… doesn’t that just render the point she was trying to make moot?

Anyway, you should dress for yourself, but what is the harm in putting on something that makes you feel sexy?
