Working Girl

Monday, March 14th, 2011

A new week begins and as an impulsive dresser, I tend to pick what I’m going to wear at the last minute. But I usually choose to wear structured shirts tucked in with skinny jeans and layered with a light cardigan or jacket for the deadly cold air-conditioned office or a body con dress with colorful accessories. I like to have at least one thing in my outfit that stands out, whether it’s my makeup, clothes or accessories. Β Here are some of my working girl inspirations. From Left to right: Ralph Lauren Fall 2011 collection, BCBG , Olivia Palermo (We heart it)DKNY Spring 2011 by Nathaniel Goldberg (Heidi Mount) (Source: Fashion Gone Rogue)I love adding bold colors to my outfit like the jacket or the clutch. (Source: Stockholm Streetstyle, Weheartit)This is what I want to wear to work today! 1.Nature White Signature Silk Blouse $345.00 (Mywardrobe.com) 2. Printed Pants (Youheshe.com) 3. Spike Web Necklace $49.00 (Anarchy Street) 4. ASOS Color Β Block Keeper Satchel $26.90 5. Sakura Suede Platforms $128.00 (Topshop.com)

What are you wearing to work today? Do you have a dress code at your work? xxoxoxoxoo

My work dress attire is super casual because it’s a surf/skate brand, so I basically get to wear what I want. But I am so loving this inspiration!

I love these working girl outfits. Office appropriate, but also chic. My dress code for work? Mix some high and low fashion, an elegant dress with ballet flats, jeans with high heels and shirt. Wishing you a great week, Shin! Ada

  15. No jeans for me at work. I like white shirts and black mini skirts. Spicing it up with a flower brooch. Chic, edgy and classic – all at the same time.

Oh, lovely office looks! You make men’s day at work more beautiful πŸ™‚
I love the look you created at the end of your post except the pants. I think that those loose and big trousers make girls look fat and strange/ugly, even girls in such a great shape as you πŸ™‚
Avoid them girls! (An opinion by a straight guy πŸ™‚

  25. Great post love! I know it’s tricky when you have to be business appropriate but you still want to somehow be stylish. I think like you said, the trick is just throwing in an accessory or single piece that has a lot of colour or character. I love Olivia’s look, she always looks beyond amazing!

it was a really nice work outfit, I especially liked the bag. I would love to have it for my own! One thing, however, that is underestimated is to wear a dress, more girls should wear dresses to school and work! πŸ˜€

gorgeous photos, my work dress code isn’t too strict. i just have to make sure my skirts are knee length at least, no spaghetti straps, no rubber flip flops.. haha, that’s about it so i can get away with a lot πŸ˜‰

  50. Love the working girl looks! Power chic πŸ˜‰

Awww you will find someone! If it makes you feel better, even though I found someone I still never see him! haha – of course that wouldn’t make you “feel better” point being alone or with bf, it’s always the relationship you have with yourself that holds you up the best πŸ˜‰

  51. Love your picks! A simple grey sheath and bright heels would be fun! xo style, she wrote

  52. jess says:

    I love the pumps.

  53. Terra says:

I do have a dress code at my work, specifically a uniform that is oppressive. Enjoy the freedom of fashion for me, these are wonderful looks!
    <3 Terra

  54. Becca says:

I’m the definition of a last minute dresser, usually it works out for me, but sometimes it leaves me in a getting dressed meltdown where I cannot figure out what to wear. But even if I do manage to pick out an outfit the night before – I rarely end up wearing it, so it seems a little useless. Also – those blue shoes are to die for. I’m trying to wear more heels recently (despite SF’s killer hills) I’d love to get my hands on those.

  55. Sienna says:

I don’t have a job, but that pink DKNY blazer makes me wish I did

  56. Clare says:

If I had a work wardrobe like this I would love going to work every day!

  57. ohhh, olivia. she has the best clothes! i work on campus at the university where i go to school, so the dress code is pretty relaxed.

  58. Emma Whyte says:

I sometimes feel like jekyll and hyde – out of work I love my clothes & I am very creative – In work I really dont feel any passion – dark clothes with little variation…but as I mentioned on one of your posts last month a work wardrobe make-over is on the cards for me – your picks have given me alot to think about – love olivia’s look & DKNY amazing x

  59. qin says:

I need a pair of nice pumps mmhmm

  60. Oh I just love the working outfit, always a ‘turn to’! How are you Shin? Is work overwhelming? xoxo nath

  61. jasna says:

These oufits are super inspiring babe! Aaah Dom has been working soo much, we miss him too! Hopefully we will see him soon πŸ˜‰ xx

  62. Bionica says:

    I totally agree
a bold pop of color really adds to the outfit
makes work a little more fun =)

    -Bionica

  63. Biaa says:

Love the pink colour of the DKNY blazer! Very pretty pink. And I like the colourful clutches. I really want to get my hands on a Celine clutch, but it is sooooooo far out of my budget, that I’m on the hunt for inexpensive alternatives instead πŸ™‚
